What would a convention be without fan groups?

USS Navras - Starfleet Fan Group

The U.S.S. Navras can be defined as another in a long list of Star Trek fan clubs.  The problem is that that description doesn’t really do us justice, because it fails to properly explain the actual depth of who and what we are– which is a group of devoted Star Trek fans, young and old, from every walk of life, who have come together to make something very special and very unique to Star Trek fandom.

The U.S.S. Navras is a correspondence chapter of STARFLEET, The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc.– meaning that men, women, and children from all over the world can actively join and participate in what we have to offer.  But more than that, we are a ship of people with fresh ideas and eager ambitions who are looking to revolutionize the way people conceive Star Trek fandom.  We make event appearances in full uniform and prosthetic makeup, we organize ceremonies and tournaments, we play games (both online and offline) with each other, we collect for a number of charities, and we promote an interest and appreciation in Gene Roddenberry’s legacy to the very best of our ability.

We also extend an open invitation to those like-minded individuals, regardless of who or what they are, to join us in our efforts and our adventures.  And while we are based out of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, we strongly encourage people from all over the world to not only join us, but to get your friends and family involved as well.  Put together your own ‘Away Team’ to make costumed appearances with.  You’ll never experience anything quite like the magic that happens when you and a half-dozen of your friends show up at a convention in uniform and makeup.

SG-21 Louisiana Stargators

We are a fan/costuming group based out of Lafayette, Louisiana. We have open membership and encourage anyone interested in Stargate cosplay or roleplaying to join. There are no dues and no minimum attendance at conventions and events. It is purely for fun.  We attend conventions in Louisiana and neighboring states and also hold other events such as airsoft battles, BBQs, camping weekends, etc.  Our goal is to have a little fun and when possible to raise some money for local charities.

The Star Wars Autograph Collection Podcast

StarWarsAutographCollection.com, has taken the next step in helping people find autographs from the galaxy far, far away in the form of a new podcast that began in April.  "Starting a podcast was the next logical step in our mission to help collectors find the autographs they need for their collection, whether they are looking for their first signature, or they have thousands," said StarWarsAutographCollection.com owner and lead host Frank Rich.  Co-hosts for the Star Wars Autograph Collection Podcast are Eric LeBlanc, owner of the popular Sci-Fi Actor Appearances website, and John Purves, a life-long fan who has a wealth of knowledge for all things Star Wars. D20 Girls

The D20 Girls Project is a semi-unique business that combines social networking, talent management, event services, and independent publications to promote the positive image of female gamers in the gaming industry. We network with local and national vendors to build mutually beneficial associations and business relationships through press coverage, paid engagements, event hosting, and much more.  We seek venues and events where the D20 Girls can help encourage the feminine presence in video and board game play, cosplay and LARPing, electronic and print media, art and photography, and the various genres of the same: fantasy, anamorphic, sci-fi, anime, horror, Renaissance fairs, comic books, pop-culture reenactments, and more.  The D20 Girls Project is specifically geared towards promoting a female spirit in the gaming industry, whether that be through our quarterly magazine, our monthly newspaper, modeling and cosplaying, or our promotional event services. We are able and excited to tailor our services to the specific needs of our clients and events – Each convention and business is unique and we aim to highlight your assets with ours.

Calcasieu Area Trekkers Society

The Calcasieu Area Trekkers Society (C.A.T.S.) was the dream of one dedicated trekker to bring organized science fiction fandom to Southwest Louisiana. Stuart K. Griggs, a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, had long sought to share his enjoyment of star trek and science fiction in general with other fans in an area where the genre is not universally appreciated. Despite the odds and investing his own funds into the effort, Griggs successfully launched C.A.T.S. in July 1994 with a small group of charter members. Many of those members are still active with the club for over 15 years since its founding.  The Trekkers society will celebrate its 19th anniversary in July 2013 having survived the times and changing membership roster. Did you know that 80 percent of all star trek fan clubs started in America go belly-up after only 2 years in existence? The club has a dedicated a group of members that enjoys not only star trek but also other science fiction productions such as Babylon 5, Firefly, Star Wars, Lost, Fringe, the Reimagined Battlestar Galactica, and much more.  in addition to screenings of various science fiction films and television series our members also attend as a group other conventions in the country and has theatrical film screenings on occasion. But mostly C.A.T.S. members have fun sharing the science fiction experience. Right now the Trekkers society is looking for new members to come aboard and explore the final frontier with us.
