If you're looking to find great fan groups, you've come to the right place.  BayouCon offers some of the best Fan Group anywhere in one jam packed event.  Our Fan Groups are an integral part of our event and help provide much of the programming at the Convention.  Find out about each of our groups participating below.

Tim the Dalek and the Doctor Who Tardis

EXTERMINATE!  Well, maybe not.  Get ready to experience the beloved Daleks from the Doctor Who television show with these recreation's Tim and Tom Daleks.  Bring your cameras for the photo-op of a lifetime and remember that Bananas are good!  Included with the Daleks will be a recreation Tardis for your timey wimey adventures!

 

 

The D20 Girls Project

The D20 Girls Project is a semi-unique business that combines social networking, talent management, event services, and independent publications to promote the positive image of female gamers in the gaming industry. We network with local and national vendors to build mutually beneficial associations and business relationships through press coverage, paid engagements, event hosting, and much more.  We seek venues and events where the D20 Girls can help encourage the feminine presence in video and board game play, cosplay and LARPing, electronic and print media, art and photography, and the various genres of the same: fantasy, anamorphic, sci-fi, anime, horror, Renaissance fairs, comic books, pop-culture reenactments, and more.  The D20 Girls Project is specifically geared towards promoting a female spirit in the gaming industry, whether that be through our quarterly magazine, our monthly newspaper, modeling and cosplaying, or our promotional event services. We are able and excited to tailor our services to the specific needs of our clients and events – Each convention and business is unique and we aim to highlight your assets with ours.

The Doctor Whooligans

The Doctor Whooligans are a SWLA Doctor Who fan group for Whovians of all ages. Have you ever tried to explain your love for Doctor Who to a friend and had to watch their eyes slowly glaze over? You are not alone. Are you the world's biggest fan of Tom Baker or Peter Davison, or even Christopher Eccleston? Great! You're welcome here! Are you a fan of the new series and hoping to expand your Who knowledge? We can help! Our one and only goal is to share our love of Doctor Who with like-minded people. We strive to do good things within the community, such as attend conventions and charity events. We also love to get together for Doctor Who showings, premiere parties, cosplay fun, game nights and more.

SG-21 Louisiana Stargators

We are a fan/costuming group based out of Lafayette, Louisiana. We have open membership and encourage anyone interested in Stargate cosplay or roleplaying to join. There are no dues and no minimum attendance at conventions and events. It is purely for fun. We attend conventions in Louisiana and neighboring states and also hold other events such as airsoft battles, BBQs, camping weekends, etc. Our goal is to have a little fun and when possible to raise some money for local charities.

Sci-Fi Actor Appearances dot com (www.scifiactorappearances.com)

Stripe-Star Pokemon League

stripestar logoStripe-Star League is an official Pokemon Organized Play Sponsored League that focuses on sportsmanship, honorable gaming, and all things Pokemon. The league is made up of players of all ages and walks of life determined to help each other become great gamers and instill long lasting friendships. The league is among the first to begin developing long-range connections between its members, and will feature a number of players and online experts for video game training help, deck building aid, gaming support, and more! They will also be sponsoring a site-wide adventure game where 3ds players can battle each other, challenge Gym Leaders, and even have at chance at being Bayou-con's Pokemon Champion of 2014!

 

LC Otaku

LC OTAKU is an animanga club for adults based out of Central LIbrary in Lake Charles, LA. We meet once a month to discuss various anime and manga, as well as host events throughout the year. All animanga related topics are welcome, including games and cosplay.

 

Gulf Coast Roller Derby

The Gulf Coast Roller Girls began in August 2009. Originally from Orange, TX, they started out as a flat track roller derby team. Following a reformation and reorganization in 2010, the GCRG was changed to a league name and merged with the newly formed Lafitte's Ladies, a flat track team in Lake Charles, LA. The league is now based in the greater Southwest Louisiana area. They are also a member of Derby South.

 

 

 

 

CoastCon

CoastCon is Mississippi's longest running and largest science fiction, fantasy and gaming convention. It is the main sponsored event of CoastCon, Inc., a non-profit literary organization. CoastCon, Inc. and its ten-member volunteer board develops events and gatherings to promote reading, education, fellowship, and science fiction, fantasy and gaming in all formats across the Southern United States, for over thirty-five years.

Geekonomicon

Geekonomicon is a community of like-minded geeks and nerds who want to create an environment on a regular, not just yearly, basis where people can gather together for networking, entertainment, and educational events to share ideas and connect without fear of judgment. On this quest to grow their community they promote awareness in society of our unique culture, its differences, and similarities, in order to foster a better mutual understanding. In December all can celebrate a family friendly Geekmas together.

 

 

 

LASS

Louisiana Airship Steam Society is a Group of Two Steam Ships from the Lake Charles Area. One is the Iron Raven a Raider/Smuggler type Ship with a classic Victorian flare. The Dragon Heart is a full on all female fantasy ship. The social group was formed to share like ideas and interest in Steam punk Art.

Sowela Gamerz

SOWELA Gamerz aims to support and promote the values of SOWELA Technical Community College while providing the student body an opportunity to participate in activities related but not limited to video games, board games, card games, logic games, and puzzles. SOWELA Gamerz host events such as friendly gaming tournaments, game nights, and game related activities. It will bring together veteran gamers, as well as new-comers, to create a community of fun, leadership, and fair play.

 

 

Starfleet Chapter USS Lafitte

The U.S.S. Lafitte, chartered in 2010, is a proud chapter member of Starfleet International. Their mission is to apply the unique talents of their members in the furtherance of community outreach and assistance, improving the lives of others as well as themselves, and have great fun doing it.
