The Cosplay Costume Contest is a major part of our convention and we're excited to announce the rules for the contest along with prizes.  New this year we will offer trophies for the main winners in each category as well as some cool prizes for our winners.  All costumes must be pre judged with our contest coordinator prior to entering the offical contest.  Please see schedule for signup times.  WE WILL ONLY OFFER ONSITE REGISTRATION FOR THE COSTUME CONTEST.

 

Tentative Contest Rules (Subject to change)

1. Participants must submit all registration forms to the sign-up desk on the convention floor, in order to participate in the Cosplay Competition. Materials must be turned in at the time of registration. Minors must have parent's permission and a parent's signature on the waiver.
3. In order for you to qualify for craftsmanship judging, you must have made at least 50% of your costume. Store bought costumes will be allowed to participate as a walk-on, but they cannot be entered for craftsmanship. We will be having Advanced, Beginner, and Children levels, thus we ask that if you have won a Craftsmanship award in the past from ANY conventions that you register as Advanced and anyone under the age of 12 register in the Children Category.
4. Costumes should be self-contained. (aka not plugged into a wall) If your costume has any excessive or flashing lights, you must inform us by making a note of it on the sign-up sheet so that the appropriate warning can be issued to the audience in case of any medical issues that may be caused by the flashing lights.
5. Your costume may be from any book, anime, manga, video game, or part of Japanese culture.  It may also include Sci-Fi, and Pop Culture items.
6. No excessive sexual themes, violence, or nudity will be tolerated on stage. We have a strict PG-13 rating.
7. If you need to eat or drink, please plan to do so before the Cosplay Pre-Meeting. Parents of minors MUST accompany their children at rehearsal and backstage. Rest assured parents, we place everyone's safety and well being above all else. If you do not show up for the Pre-Meeting, you will be disqualified.
8. All entries will be prejudged.  See schedule for judging times and signup.  No entrant will be allowed into the contest without participating in prejudging.
9. During the public showcase, you will be limited to 45 seconds for any skits or presentations with 30 additional seconds for walk on/off.
10.  NO COSTUME IS NOT A COSTUME.

7. Once you have signed up and are ready to compete, you must attend the Cosplay Pre-Meeting before the actual competition. You will be given directions to the Pre-Meeting when you register for Cosplay. PREMEETING STARTS AT 6 PM. We will inform you were to meet once you are signed up. Please be aware that food and drink are not permitted during the Pre-Meeting or backstage during cosplay. If you need to eat or drink, please plan to do so before the Cosplay Pre-Meeting. Parents of minors MUST accompany their children at rehearsal and backstage.
